Frequently Asked Questions, Part 1

Dear Patients,

In such an emotionally stressful period it is important that we keep on supporting you at least online.

We have collected the questions that you had asked us recently.

Now it is time we try to answer them one by one in the hope that we can help you better look after your teeth in the lockdown.

Let’s see the most frequently asked question first:

What can I do at home to keep my teeth healthy during this temporary period?

The health of our teeth and good oral hygiene are an essential part of overall health.

Even a confident smile is only possible with healthy, clean teeth, so the most important thing to do now is the thorough, regular brushing of our teeth with the right technique.

What should you pay attention to?

Keep in mind that your teeth can be damaged in the same way during your stay at home. Acidic, sugar-rich foods do harm to the enamel regardless of the circumstances. The cosy atmosphere of our home is a temptation hard to resist. Snacks and sweets are so easy to take in, but it is worth exercising self-control and pay more attention to dental care.

Wash your teeth regularly, after every meal!

Many people think that by swiping the teeth quickly twice a day, with any kind of toothbrush, they did their best for oral hygiene. However, improper brushing techniques do more harm to the teeth than good.

How to brush your teeth properly?

It is worth learning the following practice 🙂

  • Place your soft-bristled toothbrush to the border of the gum and the tooth. Bristles facing the gum touch the tooth surface at a forty-five-degree angle. Clean your teeth in a circular motion, using only slight pressure. You should treat the area between the teeth, as well as the gum and neck of the teeth with special care.
  • Remove food leftovers with a circular sweeping motion, thus loosening the plaque and then clean the chewing surfaces.
  • It is also essential to clean the space between the teeth. Dental floss and interdental brushes are designed for the job. We will talk about this in more detail later.
  • Those who use an electric toothbrush should do pretty much the same, but the actual cleaning motions are done by the toothbrush for you.
  • Final tip: Brush your teeth at least twice a day: once in the morning and once in the evening. Brushing them three times a day, on the other hand, and for at least two minutes would make a significant difference. Avoid snacking, candies, and acidic soft drinks!
